Riboflavin is useful in many senses; it is required by the human body to activate Vitamin B6 and for assisting the adrenal gland with its functions. This vitamin is also required to execute the metabolism processes of carbohydrates and fatty acids in the body. The vitamin is considered highly beneficial for skin, hair, and nails.

Vitamin B2 is also considered useful in the formation of red blood cells, growth, and cell respiration. This vitamin is also required by the body for maintaining healthy mucus membranes in body’s digestive tract.

Deficiency of Vitamin B2:

The deficiency of vitamin B2 or riboflavin in the human body may lead to loss of hair, retarded growth, insomnia, dermatitis, dizziness, skin lesions, and eye disorders.

Sources of Vitamin B2:

Some sources of vitamin B2 are eggs, milk, green leafy vegetables, nuts, cheese, and organ meat products.

How to optimize benefits of vitamin B2?

In order to reap optimum benefits of vitamin B2, it can be combined with vitamin C and B-group vitamins such as B1, B3, and B5.

Recommended Dosage of Vitamin B2:

The minimum recommended dietary allowance of vitamin B2 is 1.6 mg/day and 1.2 mg/day for men and women, respectively. A higher dosage of 50 mg of vitamin B2 per day may be prescribed and taken for supplementation purposes.
