Onions – Effective but often ignored

There are lots of spices, fruits, and vegetables we intake in our daily life without actually knowing how they are helping us to cure and stay protected against some health diseases. One of them is onion known as the second most important horticultural crop and belonging to the Lily family.
It is slightly difficult to think making and having the food without Onions as it is being used as one of the major ingredients to add flavor in various dishes from thousands of years by many cultures around the globe. Onion are available in red, white, yellow and green colors and they can be eaten cooked, fried, dried and raw in the form of salads, gravy, dips and plenty more ways.
As far as the health part is concern its helpful properties are seen after long-term usage. Onion contains ingredients like magnesium, calcium, sodium, sulphur, phosphorus, iron, essential oils, ascorbic acid and vitamins PP, B, A.
Onions are natural anti clotting agents that help to control blood clots and in controlling blood cholesterol and protection against cardiovascular disease. Onion also protects against stomach and certain infections and cancers besides improving lung function. It is also widely used as remedy for diseases like flu, angina, lung inflammation, catarrh, Anemia, blood pressure, and cough.
As we see onions have many health benefits, they are also very effective. So always keep in mind to take only in moderation as if taken in large quantity it can affect abdomen distress and gastrointestinal irritation, probably resulting in unsettled stomach, vomiting and diarrhea.
