Anabolic Steroids – Why are they abused?

Anabolic Steroids - Why are they abused?Anabolic steroids are synthetic steroids that are used to make-up for the deficient production of naturally-produced steroids in the body. While the human body is not capable of producing all steroid hormones by self, some steroids are formulated synthetically so that dreams of solid muscle gains and muscle size get transformed into realities.

A huge majority of steroid users make the use for illegitimate purposes like bodybuilding and attaining a lean yet muscular appearance. It is important to note that the legitimate use of steroids is all about medical treatment, advised by a qualified medical practitioner.

The reasons why people use or abuse steroids are:

  • To attain considerable improvements in stamina and muscle size
  • To improve health conditions
  • To stay ahead of the competition at all costs
  • Habitual use (addiction) of steroids
  • To cope with incidents of sexual abuse, bullying, or insomnia
  • To create or maintain a sense of “invincibility”

Whatever may be the reason of steroid use, one can deny the fact that steroids may prove to be fatal when used in an indiscriminate manner. This is the reason why it is always said that steroids should be used only for legitimate purposes and in accordance with the dosage and usage instructions, specified by a qualified medical practitioner.
